The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered their first loss of the 2026 season. On a beautiful Monday night at Dodger Stadium, they fell to the Cleveland Guardians, 4–2.

After brutal spring training, Roki Sasaki pitched four solid innings, allowing one run. He located his pitches in the strike zone, which had been a major problem in Arizona. He used all his pitches. His new cutter baffled the Guardians. While walking two, he struck out four. If Sasaki can build on this start, he and the Dodgers will be fine.

Tanner Scott was sharp in the fifth.

Justin Wrobleski pitched four innings. He lost his release point in the seventh, where he allowed three runs. He was sharp in the other innings.

Unlike in the first three games, the Dodgers did not play fundamentally sound baseball both offensively and defensively. Even Miguel Rojas got picked off for the first time in three years.

In the ninth, Kyle Tucker singled and scored on Mookie Betts’ double. Betts scored on Freddie Freeman’s groundout.

No team in the major leagues is undefeated. The Dodgers had a forgettable game on Monday, and every team will have forgettable games during the season.
