On a rare rainy Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 4–1.
Shohei Ohtani pitched six sharp innings, allowing just one hit. He struck out six and walked three. His splitter was sharper than at any time last year when he was coming back from his second Tommy John surgery. He didn’t like the wet conditions, but he dominated.
In the fourth inning, Will Smith singled, moved to second on Teoscar Hernández’s single, and scored on Andy Pages’ single.
In the sixth inning, Max Muncy socked his first home run of the 2026 season.
Alex Vesia pitched a scoreless seventh inning, and Jack Dreyer hurled a scoreless eighth.
To start the ninth, Freddie Freeman singled. Muncy doubled Freeman to third. Hernàndez singled in Freeman, and Pages drove in Muncy.
In a non-save situation, Edwin Díaz struggled with his control due to the wet mound. He walked one and hit a batter. He allowed a run-scoring single. Nevertheless, he got out of the inning and preserved the victory.
This win was good for the Dodgers, and if they win tomorrow, they will win the series.
