After the Dodgers produced only one run on Friday, they used a nine-run sixth inning to have a laugher.

On a beautiful Saturday night at Petco Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the San Diego Padres, 15–3. They extended their lead in the National League West to nine games.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto hurled six innings, allowing two runs. He was in complete control despite still struggling with his splitter. He had four strikeouts because he didn’t have his normal strikeout pitch. In June, he has struggled with his famous pitch, but he has been sharp. Until the fifth, he had perfect command, but after that, he exited after giving up two walks.

Until the sixth inning, the Dodgers’ offense looked dormant. In the second inning, Fernando Tatis, Jr,  misplayed Max Muncy’s long single into a triple. Tommy Edman, who has been on fire since returning from the IL, doubled home Muncy.

Kyle Tucker and Dalton Rushing needed a better game after having a difficult week. Both players left the game on Monday with minor injuries. On Wednesday, the internet focused on Rushing’s difficulties with Shohei Ohtani as he struck out three times. Tucker has slumped since signing a lucrative deal with the Dodgers.

In the sixth, Tucker hit a monstrous two-run shot, and Rushing followed with a solo homer. Later in the inning, Mookie Betts added a three-run homer.

Kyle Hurt has been a breakout star in the Dodgers’ bullpen but not on Saturday. He couldn’t locate the strike zone in the seventh inning and couldn’t finish the frame. Alex Vesia entered with bases loaded and shut down the Padres.

Jack Dreyer and Miguel Rojas were sharp in relief.

Emmet Sheehan wants to have a good outing on Sunday as the Dodgers try to take the series from the Padres. June has been difficult for Sheehan.
