The Los Angeles Dodgers squandered a lead-off triple by Shohei Ohtani in the ninth inning after Tanner Scott let the Braves score the go-ahead run.

On a hot Tuesday night at Truist Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Atlanta Braves, 4–3.

For the first time since May 6^th, Tyler Glasnow returned to a major league mound and pitched well for five innings. If the Braves weren’t lucky in the first inning, he would have pitched longer and might have received the win.

Glasnow said that he was “too predictable in the first inning.” After the first inning, he threw fewer curveballs. He had a great four-seam fastball and slider.

In his five innings, Glasnow struck out seven while walking none. If he can continue dominating, the Dodgers’ rotation just received a huge boost going into the postseason.

Although the Dodgers came back from a three-run deficit quickly, they squandered scoring opportunities, going 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Alek Thomas had a two-run single in the second inning, and Alex Call had a fourth-inning RBI single. The top of the order couldn’t do anything, going 2-for-12.

Alex Vesia was sharp in the sixth inning. Jack Dreyer retired the first two outs of the seventh inning but couldn’t get the last out of the frame. Dave Roberts brought in Evan Phillips to get the last out.

Tanner Scott allowed a lead-off double to start the eighth inning and then retired the next two. Roberts elected to pitch to Ozzie Albies, the toughest batter in the middle of the Braves’ lineup, and he delivered the winning hit.

Alex Call said that the Dodgers played a clean game. The Braves just outplayed the Dodgers.

On Tuesday, Will Smith began a rehabilitation assignment in Oklahoma City. He threw out a potential base stealer and hit a two-run homer. Roberts thinks Smith can rejoin the team on the next home stand.

On Wednesday, with Roki Sasaki on the mound, the Dodgers will try to begin another winning streak.
