After the Royals scored three runs in the eighth inning, the Dodgers received a walk-off single from Max Muncy in the tenth inning. Blake Snell’s return was fantastic.

In ten innings, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Kansas City Royals, 5–4, on a hot Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

After three months recovering from having loose bodies removed from his pitching elbow, Snell pitched six one-run innings. He had every pitch working and precise control. Snell said that he was calmer than he would be and was pleased with his curveball. He struck out ten while walking one on 84 pitches.

Mookie Betts had a big offensive night. This season has been a challenge for him offensively because he can’t get the bat through the strike zone on level. He homered in the third inning, and he doubled to start the seventh inning. Alex Call’s double brought home Betts, and Call scored on Teoscar Hernández’s pinch-hit double.

Alex Vesia was sharp in the seventh inning.

Since returning from Tommy John surgery, Evan Phillips has struggled. On Tuesday, in the eighth inning, his slider was flat, and he couldn’t control it. He allowed two earned runs. Andy Pages caught a fly ball and dropped it on the transfer, allowing an unearned run.

Jack Dreyer easily ended the eighth inning. Eduardo Henriquez was sharp in the ninth inning.

Seth Halverson made his Dodger debut when he pitched a scoreless tenth inning.

In the eighth inning, Betts continued his good night by driving in the tying run with a single.

In the tenth inning, with the bases loaded, Max Muncy’s single scored the winning run.

On Wednesday, the Dodgers will try to sweep the Royals with Eric Lauer, who is trying to bounce back from a bad outing against the Chicago Cubs, on the mound.
