A four-run fifth inning supported Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who pitched a seven-inning gem.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finished their nine-game road trip with a 5–1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at American Family Field. They went 7-2 on the trip.

Yamamoto was brilliant. He relied on a great splitter to generate groundouts. The Brewers went 1-for-9 against the splitter, a pitch that has lacked its usual sharpness at times this season.  The only run came on a hit batter and two groundouts. He struck out three while walking one.

Will Klein and Tanner Scott continued the Dodgers’ bullpen dominance by each striking out two. Now, the Dodgers’ bullpen has 38 consecutive scoreless innings.

For the first three innings, the Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on any scoring opportunity. In the fourth inning, they used a wild pitch to score. Kyle Tucker’s triple scored Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, and Andy Pages followed with a two-run homer.

On Memorial Day, the Dodgers open a three-game series against the last-place Colorado Rockies with Emmet Sheehan on the bump.
