On a beautiful Monday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers snapped their three-game losing streak after the All-Star break.
Shohei Ohtani pitched three innings. After he gave up a lead-off home run by Bryon Buxton, Ohtani pitched well though he had constant traffic. He allowed four hits, walked a batter, and struck out three. Ohtani wants to be sharper than he was on Monday.
In the first, after Mookie Betts walked, Ohtani socked a two-run homer, his 35th of the year.
For the first time in two years, Dustin May was a reliever and did fantastically. Pitching in constant trouble, May was great. In his 4.2 innings, May allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out four.
Tanner Scott left the game after retiring two batters with an injury. Kirby Yates relieved Scott and retired the last two batters of the game.
Freddie Freeman played after being hit on his wrist on Sunday.
Will Smith, who belongs in the National League MVP conversation, hit two solo home runs. Andy Pages added his 18th, a solo shot.
