Through the first eight innings, the Dodgers couldn’t get the big hit. Teoscar Hernández was fed up and delivered a two-run, walk-off double.

During this series, Hernández had seven hits. Before this series, many podcasters wanted to promote James Tibbs III, who is having a huge season in Oklahoma City, and sit Hernández. The veteran is out of his slump.

The Los Angeles Dodgers salvaged one from the St. Louis Cardinals by beating them, 3–2, on a beautiful Thursday night at Dodger Stadium.

Shohei Ohtani didn’t start this game because of biceps and neck soreness. He is day-to-day. Tommy Edman replaced Ohtani in the leadoff position, and he had four hits. Teoscar Hernández had the other two for the Dodgers. When he delivered, the Dodgers were 1-for-25 with runners in scoring position.

Tarik Skubal didn’t have his best stuff working. The Cardinals were sitting on his changeup. However, singles didn’t do much when Skubal pitched well with traffic. He walked only one while striking out six. He even picked off his first runner of the year.

Skubal said that his changeup wasn’t great. He didn’t execute it the way he wanted, but he missed the strike zone by an inch.

Eduardo Henriquez, Evan Phillips, Alex Vesia, and Brock Stewart were sharp in relief. This was the first game in the series that the Dodgers’ bullpen had performed well.  

Edman said that the team is pressing. He hopes Teo’s double relaxes the group.

The Dodgers’ magic number is thirteen to win the division.

On Friday, the Dodgers will start a three-game series against the Washington Nationals, a good-hitting but poor-pitching team. Blake Snell will be on the mound.
