Despite Tanner Scott blowing the save when he allowed three runs in the ninth inning, the Dodgers crawled back to beat the Rockies.

In their first extra-inning game in 2026, the Los Angeles Dodgers used Dalton Rushing’s single to beat the Colorado Rockies, 8–7, in eleven innings.

The Dodgers built a five-run lead after the fourth inning, but on a rare night, the Dodgers’ bullpen struggled. On the night when they activated Evan Phillips from the IL after having Tommy John surgery, they didn’t use him but had evidence that they need him.

Eric Lauer pitched well for six innings. As the Dodgers’ sixth starter, he has delivered exactly what his new team needed. He didn’t have great command, and the Rockies took advantage. He struck out three while walking two.

While Lauer kept the Rockies under control, the Dodgers’ offense responded. In the third inning, after Rushing doubled, Shohei Ohtani blasted a two-run homer. In the fourth inning, the Dodgers scored four runs on Max Muncy and Ohtani’s singles and Teoscar Hernández’s sacrifice fly.

Brock Stewart and Alex Vesia kept the opposition quiet in the seventh and eighth innings.

All year, Scott has been excellent while filling in for the injured Edwin Dìaz until Monday night at Dodger Stadium. His command was errant, causing both a walk and too many hits. In 2025, his pitches were in the strike zone too much, which caused the opponents to collect too many hits. A double tied the score.

In the tenth, against Eduardo Henriquez, the Rockies used two groundouts to score the go-ahead run.

The Dodgers answered thanks to a fielding error in the tenth inning.

After Henriquez held the Rockies scoreless in the eleventh inning, with Teoscar Hernández placed at second base, Muncy was intentionally walked, and Tommy Edman sacrificed the runners to second and third. Rushing singled hard to bring Hernández home.

With Justin Wrobleski, who wants to prove that he belongs in the All-Star Game, on the mound, the Dodgers look to lengthen their winning streak against the Rockies at Dodger Stadium to twelve games.
