The Dodgers scored throughout the game and survived the relentless Pirates despite having two important players leave with injuries.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with an 8–6 victory on a muggy Thursday night at PNC Park. They won their first series in Pittsburgh since 2021. They maintained a 7.5-game lead in the National League West.

Justin Wrobleski wasn’t efficient in the strike zone as he has been this season, but he kept the Pirates quiet until the fifth inning. In the fifth inning, he allowed two home runs but left with a contusion in his left hamstring.  In his 4.2 innings, he had a mere strikeout while walking two. In his postgame interview on SportsNet LA, Dave Roberts said that he was confident that Wrobleski would make his next start.

With one out in the third inning, Shohei Ohtani homered, and Kyle Tucker had a two-run bloop single.

In the fourth inning, Freddie Freeman singled home Ohtani. The Dodgers took advantage of a wild pitch to score another run.

Pinch-hitting for Alex Freeland, Miguel Rojas grounded out to score a run, and the Dodgers used a wild pitch to score their second run in the seventh inning. Rojas had a sacrifice fly to bring home Tucker in the eighth inning.

Will Klein, Alex Vesia, and Jack Dreyer were sharp in relief.

Eduardo Henriquez had a rough 0.2 of an inning when he gave up two runs. Tanner Scott had a four-out save.

Ohtani left the game with inflammation behind his left knee. After the game, in his interview, Roberts said it was precautionary.  He thinks Ohtani could play in Chicago on Friday.

On Friday, the Dodgers will start a three-game series against a much-improved Chicago White Sox team. Roki Sasaki will look to continue his improvement.
