Kiké Hernández played his first game in the 2026 season and helped spark the offense.  A four-run seventh inning gave the Dodgers their 34th victory of the season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finished one-third of the 2026 season with a 5–3 win over the Colorado Rockies on a beautiful Memorial Day at Dodger Stadium.

Emmet Sheehan went six innings despite being hit on his pitching arm during the fourth inning, when he allowed two runs. He dominated for the first three innings, and after the fourth inning, when he received two trips from Dave Roberts and Thomas Albert,  the Dodgers’ head trainer, Sheehan breezed through the lineup. He struck out eight while walking one.

Kyle Hurt gave up a solo home run in the seventh inning, the first run that the Dodgers’ bullpen allowed in 38 innings. Will Klein, Alex Vesia, and Blake Treinen were sharp in relief.

Hyeseong Kim opened the fourth inning with a single and scored on Kiké Hernández’s double.

In the seventh inning, Will Smith and Kim walked. Miguel Rojas was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Shohei Ohtani hit into a force play, scoring Smith.  Kim scored on Mookie Betts’ sacrifice fly. Then, Freddie Freeman doubled home Ohtani and scored on Andy Pages’ single.

Before the game, Max Muncy played catch. Roberts hopes he can play on Wednesday after being hit in his wrist last Friday. Also, the Dodgers DFAed Santiago Espinal to make room for Kiké Hernández. In 26 games, he had a .220 batting average with a home run. Some other major league team should pick up Espinal.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers will try to lengthen their winning streak to four against the Rockies while Eric Lauer makes his Dodger debut.
