A week ago, every writer was like it was time to push the panic button because the Dodgers couldn’t score.
A 15–2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels should quiet the Los Angeles Dodgers’ critics. The Dodgers had only one home run to contribute to the final score.
Justin Wrobleski was brilliant for six innings, giving the Dodgers exactly what they needed after a bullpen game. He used his changeup more than he has all year. His command was good. In the sixth inning, he allowed two runs. He struck out five while walking one. Although he wasn’t as efficient as he was last Sunday against the Atlanta Braves, he gave the Dodgers a quality start.
Blake Treinen, Wyatt Mills, and Charlie Barnes were sharp in relief.
From the first inning, when Will Smith’s sacrifice fly brought home Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers immediately controlled the outcome of the game. In the sixth inning, they used four walks, a hit batter, and a two-run single by Alex Call to score five runs. Ohtani had a two-run triple and a three-run double.
Before the game, the Dodgers announced that Blake Snell will undergo surgery on Tuesday to remove the loose bodies from his pitching elbow. They are hopeful that Snell can return to the mound this season.
With Roki Sasaki on the mound, the Dodgers will look for the sweep of the Angels on Sunday.
