It wasn’t the Dodgers’ day.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without Alex Vesia, one of the most trusted relievers. He and his wife, Kayla, are dealing with a deeply personal family emergency. The Dodgers didn’t rush him back, so they didn’t even put him on the bereavement list.
The Toronto Blue Jays exploded against the Dodgers. While Shohei Ohtani blasted a two-run homer, the Blue Jays hit three home runs. The Dodgers wasted many scoring opportunities in the first five innings. However, the Blue Jays’ offense proved to be too much for the Dodgers’ pitching staff.
Coming off a dominant start against the Milwaukee Brewers, Blake Snell struggled through five innings. He couldn’t get an out in the sixth inning. He couldn’t land his fastball at the top of the strike zone. He struck out four and issued three walks.
Neither Emmet Sheehan nor Anthony Banda couldn’t stop the Jays in the sixth when the Jays scored nine runs.
Justin Wrobleski and Will Klein pitched well in relief. However, it was too late.
If the Dodgers win the World Series, their offense must score frequently. They must stop wasting scoring opportunities. The Dodgers need Andy Pages to get going offensively. Pages struck out with bases loaded, and this can’t happen during the World Series against the Blue Jays.
