The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.
Oh no! The Dodgers didn’t win a single game against the Brewers.
People can throw out regular-season statistics during the postseason. When the Dodgers played the Brewers, they were a different team than they are now. Max Muncy was on the IL. Blake Snell and Blake Treinen were still on the IL. Both Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman were in the worst slumps of their Hall of Fame-caliber careers.
Now, the Dodgers have four great starters – Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Snell, and Shohei Ohtani. These starters can shut down any offense. The Brewers depend on linking hits together. They don’t have much power. Against the Dodger starting rotation, the Brewers will have difficulty linking hits together.
Although the Brewers like to run, the Dodgers have two good throwing catchers – Will Smith and Ben Rortvedt.
The Dodgers must produce more offense than they did in the NLDS. The Brewers have worse starting pitching than the Philadelphia Phillies. Whereas the Dodgers won in four games in the NLDS so that they have three days to rest their pitchers, the Brewers had one day to rest before the NLCS starts. The Brewers won’t have their ace, Brandon Woodruff, on their NLCS roster.
The Brewers had the best record in the National League, but the Dodgers have more talent and more playoff experience. If the Dodgers can score enough runs and their starters can silence the Brewers’ offense, the Dodgers should win the NLCS in six games. Remember, the Dodgers have Roki Sasak, a silent weapon to be used at the end of the game.
