On a beautiful Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, Blake Snell and the Los Angeles Dodgers’ offense dominated the Cincinnati Reds while their bullpen made every Dodger fan use Tums.
In front of the sellout crowd, the Los Angeles Dodgers walloped the Cincinnati Reds 10-to-5. Snell gave the Dodgers seven brilliant innings. Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández blasted two home runs each. In the eighth, three relievers – Alex Vesia, Edgardo Henriquez, and Jack Dreyer – struggled to throw strikes. However, Blake Treinen pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
If the Dodgers’ offense hadn’t erupted, they would have barely won the game. Vesia, Henriquez, and Dreyer nibbled at the strike zone, causing problems. The Reds weren’t a good offensive team, so the Dodger relievers must get confidence in their ability and throw strikes.
If the Dodgers’ bullpen can retire the opposition confidently, the Dodgers will repeat as World Champions. If the bullpen doesn’t regain its confidence, the relievers will have a long offseason.
To win the National League Wild Card Series, the Dodgers need one more win.
