Before the game, Dave Roberts announced Will Smith had a hairline fracture in his right hand. He will be done for the remainder of the regular season, but the Dodgers hope he can participate in the postseason. The play by Ben Rortvedt helped the Dodgers not feel the absence of Smith as much.
Miguel Rojas is the Roy Campanella Award winner. The Roy Campanella Award goes to the most inspirational Dodger every year. Rojas, 36, is a utility infielder who gives the Dodgers Gold Glove-caliber defense at second base, shortstop, and third base. Not known for his offensive production, Rojas has a .266 batting average with 7 home runs and 27 RBI. Rojas wants to re-sign with the Dodgers for the 2026 season.
Despite a rough first inning, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 7-to-5. The Dodgers’ offense battled back. This win was a team win. The magic number is 3 to win the National League Western Division.
After a rough first when he couldn’t command the baseball, Tyler Glasnow settled down and went five innings, allowing his offense to produce.
After Max Muncy’s two-run homer in the first, the Dodgers wasted a third-inning, bases-loaded situation.
In the fourth inning, Michael Conforto had a solo home run, and Freddie Freeman had a two-run single. In the fifth, Shohei Ohtani unloaded for his 53rd home run of the year, and in the sixth, Tommy Edman had a solo home run.
While Kirby Yates allowed a run, the Dodgers’ bullpen of Anthony Banda, Justin Wrobleski, Will Klein, and Jack Dreyer performed well.
