The chapter in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ history has ended.
Clayton Kershaw made his last regular-season start at Dodger Stadium. He didn’t pitch his best, but no one cared.
By the way, the Dodgers clinched their 13th consecutive playoff berth, and they have a four-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League Western Division. The Dodgers’ magic number is 5 games.
On a beautiful Friday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-to-3. Miguel Rojas, Shohei Ohtani, and Mookie Betts homered. Everything was about Kershaw.
He had his traditional curveball working. He struck out six and issued four walks. Kershaw was never comfortable on the mound, but he allowed only two runs in 4.1 innings.
When Dave Roberts took Kershaw out, the fans gave him a standing ovation. After every teammate gave him a hug, Kershaw took his first and only curtain call in his major league career.
The bullpen of Edgardo Henriquez, Justin Wrobleski, Kirby Yates, and Tanner Scott supported the Hall of Famer.
