The Los Angeles Dodgers wasted another Yoshinobu Yamamoto brilliant start.
On a picturesque Friday night at Oracle Park, Tanner Scott gave up a walk-off grand slam, enabling the San Francisco Giants to beat the Dodgers 5-to-1. The Dodgers wasted countless scoring opportunities. Because the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers remained three games ahead of the Padres in the National League Western Division.
Dave Roberts must stop going to Tanner Scott. Scott had struck out a hitter in front of allowing grand slam. The umpire missed the call and let the struck-out hitter reach.
Max Muncy had to leave the game after being hit on the wrist. The Dodgers cannot afford to lose Muncy for an extended period of time.
Again, Yamamoto was brilliant for seven innings. After allowing a run on a hit in the first, Yamamoto retired the last 21 hitters. For the entire year, Yamamoto hasn’t had any run support. He has been terrific.
Michael Conforto homered. The Dodgers couldn’t do anything against the future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander. The Giants’ bullpen gave the Dodgers opportunities to score, but the Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on these opportunities.
