The Los Angeles Dodgers looked like a Little League team.
The Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-to-1. The Dodgers’ lead shrank to one game in the National League Western Division. Tyler Glasnow was great until he ran out of gas in the seventh when he allowed three runs. Kirby Yates allowed three runs in the ninth.
Who are the Dodgers?
Are they the team that swept a good Cincinnati Reds team?
Are they the team that doesn’t know how to run the bases, hit with runners in scoring position, or field? On a hot Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, the fans saw this team. Even Freddie Freeman made a base-running error. If this team shows up in the postseason, the Dodgers will watch the NLDS, NLCS, and World Series from their respective couches.
Tyler Glasnow deserved a win. He hasn’t won a game since March. On Saturday, Glasnow didn’t allow a hit until the sixth. In the seventh, he allowed three runs. He never issued a walk while striking out six.
The Dodgers’ offense again was nonexistent. In the fourth and fifth, the Dodgers wasted good scoring opportunities. Kiké Hernández failed to slide on a sacrifice fly, partly because Mookie Betts wasn’t in the right place to tell Hernández to slide.
The Dodgers were sloppy, lackluster, and unfocused on Saturday. If they keep on playing this way, the Dodgers should not be in the postseason.
