After one of the hottest days in Los Angeles, Monday night at Dodger Stadium was beautiful to watch a baseball game. While the San Diego Padres lost to the Seattle Mariners, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-to-0. The Dodgers lead the Padres by a game in the National League Western Division.
Emmet Sheehan was brilliant for seven innings. Since coming off Tommy John surgery, Sheenan has been a stabilizing force in the starting rotation. Yes, once in a while, Sheenan has had an inconsistent start. When Sheenan needed help, Michael Conforto, Teoscar Hernández, and Mookie Betts made fantastic defensive plays.
Jack Dreyer and Anthony Banda were excellent in relief.
Andy Pages hit a solo home run in the third, and after Michael Conforto doubled to start the fifth, Pages socked a two-run homer.
In the sixth, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Teoscar Hernández walked. Andy Pages hit a ground ball to shortstop that missed the grounder, allowing Freeman and Smith to score.
In the seventh, Betts homered.
In the eighth, Teoscar Hernández singled, and Conforto doubled him to third. Pages had a sacrifice fly to score Hernández.
Before the game, the Dodgers activated Kiké Hernández and designated Buddy Kennedy for assignment.
