On a humid Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers inched out the Cincinnati Reds 5-to-4.
Before the game, the Dodgers were forced to put Hyeseong Kim with shoulder bursitis. For a few days, Kim’s shoulder affected his play, particularly with his offense. To replace Kim, the Dodgers promoted Alex Freeland. According to Dave Roberts, Freeland will get opportunities tomorrow and during the upcoming Tampa Bay Rays’ series.
Since Tyler Glasnow came back from the IL, he had been fantastic, but on Tuesday, against the Reds, he didn’t have his best start. Over his four innings, he issued five walks and allowed four runs. Though it was a humid night, Glasnow should have performed better.
Jack Dreyer, Ben Casparius, Anthony Banda, Alexis Diaz, and Alex Vesia performed superbly in relief. If they hadn’t risen to the occasion, the Dodgers probably wouldn’t have won this game.
In the second, after Freddie Freeman singled, Tommy Edman blasted a home run, his twelfth.
In the seventh, after Michael Conforto walked as a pinch hitter, Mookie Betts singled. Will Smith singled in Conforto, and Freeman singled in Betts.
In the ninth, after Conforto walked, James Outman ran for Conforto. Smith doubled in Outman.
