On a picturesque Friday night at Kaufman Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Kansas City Royals 5-to-4.  While Dustin May didn’t have it, the bullpen held the light-hitting Royals. Shohei Ohtani had a solo shot to start the game, and Max Muncy had a two-run homer. Ohtani had a run-scoring triple and scored on Mookie Betts’ single.

Shohei Ohtani went deep to start the game.

Dustin May allowed the tying run in the first when he threw 30 pitches. A bad play by Teoscar Hernández let the second run score in the second. May didn’t have good command and gave up a two-run homer in the second. For the first time this season, May lasted only four innings.

In the second with two outs, Max Muncy blasted a two-run homer. In the fifth, Ohtani’s triple tied the game, and Mookie Betts singled in Ohtani to take the lead.

Luis Garcia was perfect in his return from the IL. He had an oblique pull.

After picking off a runner from first base, Lou Trivino faced the minimum in the sixth and retired two more batters in the seventh.

Alex Vesia and Tanner Scott preserved the victory.
