Fuck!

The Dodgers can’t score. After Blake Snell pitched six magnificent innings, he ran out of gas. The Dodgers’ bullpen was not good.

If the Dodgers don’t win tomorrow, their season is over.

The Milwaukee Brewers are for real. They demonstrate why they have the best record in baseball. Not known for power, they hit three home runs. They run the bases well, and they have timely hitting. Their starting rotation has been spectacular, and their bullpen has been unhittable.

Even with Will Smith’s sixth-inning, two-run double, the Los Angeles Dodgers look dead. They wasted scoring opportunities. They don’t build counts. Their players try to do too much.

Despite giving up a home run on the first pitch of the game, Snell was brilliant. At one point in the game, he retired thirteen consecutive batters. He worked the corners of the strike zone with his entire arsenal. While the Brewers don’t strike out much, he struck out nine.

It wasn’t surprising that Snell ran out of gas in the seventh. He hadn’t lasted more than four innings since early September. He allowed back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning. Although he was charged with the loss, he did his job.

Evan Phillips was sharp, and Roki Sasaki and Justin Wrobleski weren’t. Sasaki and Wrobleski struggled with their command and couldn’t limit hard contact.

Before the game, Dave Roberts said that he would use his high-leverage relievers. Where were Eduardo Henriquez, Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia, and Edwin Díaz? The Brewers took advantage of every scoring opportunity, even scoring on a wild pitch by Wrobleski.

The Brewers have the momentum. If the Dodgers don’t explode offensively on Thursday, they will be watching the World Series from their couches. Tyler Glasnow can set the tone, but the offense must produce.
