Two errors undermined a good effort by Emmet Sheehan, and the Dodgers looked ready for the All-Star break.

The Los Angeles Dodgers experienced their first sweep of the season when they lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5–3, on an overcast Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium.

Shohei Ohtani blasted a home run to begin the game. In the third inning, Tommy Edman’s single brought home Ohtani and Andy Pages.

Emmet Sheehan pitched well until the fifth inning. He had great fastball command. In the fifth inning, Pages committed an uncharacteristic error when he couldn’t catch a fly ball. Max Muncy made a bad decision trying to get a runner out at the plate when he could get a double play. Sheehan went 5.1 innings with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Eduardo Henriquez, who is having a breakout season, couldn’t hold onto a one-run lead and was charged with the loss.

Brock Stewart and Tanner Scott were sharp. Evan Phillips allowed a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Edwin Dìaz is on his rehabilitation assignment. On Saturday, he pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts at Ontario. According to him, he could return this upcoming road trip, but Dave Roberts said that his return is up to pitching coach Mark Prior and the training staff.

On Saturday, Blake Snell pitched live batting practice and looked great. He is set to return in August after having loose bodies removed from his pitching elbow.

Tyler Glasnow is throwing. He has been on the IL since May 6th with back spasms. Barring a setback, he should be returning to the rotation sometime during August.

Kiké Hernández has recovered from his torn oblique faster than anyone expected. He should be back on the next homestand.

Will Smith is trying to return, but the progress with the irritated disc in his neck has been slow. No one knows when he can return.

On Friday, the Dodgers will start a nine-game road trip to play the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, and New York Mets. The Dodgers will look to play better than on this completed homestand.
