Eric Lauer hurled six no-hit innings, and Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman gave him enough support.
On a beautiful Monday night at Target Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Minnesota Twins, 2–1. The Dodgers are the first team to reach fifty wins.
Ohtani opened the game with a monstrous solo shot. The Dodgers continually wasted opportunities to score. In the sixth inning, Freeman hit his thirteenth home run of the season.
The Dodgers decided to go with Will Klein as an opener. He allowed a solo home run to Byron Buxton.
Lauer, as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, voiced how he disliked pitching after an opener. However, when he came into the second inning, he was brilliant. Earlier in this season, with Toronto, he suffered a lopsided loss.
On Monday, Lauer changed the eye level and varied speeds effectively to baffle the opposition. He had great defense to record outs quickly. While walking three, he struck out two.
Kyle Hurt and Tanner Scott dazzled in relief.
Kyle Tucker left the game in the second inning with back spasms, and the Dodgers aren’t overly considered.
Dalton Rushing was hit by a foul ball in the mask on the first pitch of the game. He exited the game in the third inning because of the fear of a concussion. He passed the concussion protocol but will go through it again tomorrow. The Dodgers plan to get another catcher in Minnesota tomorrow.
On Tuesday, Justin Wrobleski will look to continue his dominance against the Twins while the offense will look to wake up.
