Emmet Sheehan was sailing along until the sixth inning; the Dodgers tried to catch up but couldn’t.

On an overcast Sunday afternoon at Rate Field, a six-run sixth inning by the Chicago White Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6–4. The Dodgers ended their six-game road trip with a 3-3 record.

With two outs in the first inning, Freddie Freeman had his only hit in the series against the White Sox, which was a solo home run.

Sheehan bounced back from two poor starts and allowed three baserunners through the first five innings. Then, his fastball caught too much of the plate, and the White Sox hit it hard. Acting manager Danny Leaman lifted Sheehan after he allowed two runs and had a runner on second while Dave Roberts attended his daughter’s graduation from Stanford University.

Since Jack Dreyer returned from an IL stint with left shoulder inflammation, he has been inconsistent. On Sunday, he allowed three runs on two home runs.

Blake Treinen and Jonathan Hernández were sharp in relief.

Alex Freeland drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a double. Mookie Betts homered.

On Monday, the Dodgers begin a six-game homestand against the Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Orioles. Eric Lauer will face the Rays, the best team in the American League, on Monday.
