The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on many scoring opportunities and wasted Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s brilliant performance.
On a picturesque Monday night at Petco Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers slipped into second in the National League West with a 1–0 loss to the San Diego Padres.
For the first time since 1982, the Dodgers lost a game on a first-inning solo home run. Yamamoto went seven innings with eight strikeouts and two walks. The Padres had only two at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Kyle Hurt was sharp in the eighth inning.
After going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, the Dodgers snapped a five-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Blake Snell undergoes NanoScope surgery to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow. Tarik Skubal recently underwent the same procedure, and he resumed throwing. According to Dodger general manager Brandon Gomes, the NanoScope procedure cuts about a month from the recovery time.
The Dodgers were forced to shut down Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow had a recurrence of the back spasm. The Dodgers hope he can resume his throwing program at the end of the week, but they don’t want to rush him back. The last thing the Dodgers want is Glasnow to come back and then return to the IL.
With Emmet Sheehan on the mound, the Dodgers will look to earn a split in the series from the Padres on Tuesday.
