The Dodgers earned a split from the San Francisco Giants by using great starting pitching and timely hitting.
On a picturesque Thursday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5–2.
After an atypical rough beginning of the 2026 season, Emmet Sheehan pitched a six-inning gem. At the start of the season, his velocity was down because he had mechanical problems.
Tonight, Sheehan dominated the Giants with an excellent riding fastball and a slider. He struck out six while walking two. Aside from Teoscar Hernández’s misplay that resulted in a two-run inside-the-park home run, Sheehan was brilliant.
Eduardo Henriquez, Alex Vesia, and Tanner Scott were sharp in relief.
Hitting leadoff for the first time in his major league career, Will Smith opened the game with a solo home run.
In the second inning, after Max Muncy walked and went to third on Teoscar Hernández’s double, Hyeseong Kim’s single brought Muncy home.
Alex Call’s pinch-hit double scored two in the sixth inning, and Call scored on Miguel Rojas’ single.
Friday, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani will return to the lineup after a day off as the Dodgers start a nine-game road trip to Anaheim, San Diego, and Milwaukee.
