“This isn’t fun,” Joe Davis said in the bottom of the ninth inning. At least Shohei Ohtani hit a solo home run in the third.

The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their losing streak to four games at Dodger Stadium with a 6–2 defeat to the San Francisco Giants.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto didn’t have his best stuff on Tuesday. He allowed three solo home runs to the bottom of the order. In 6.1 innings, he was charged with five runs and struck out eight. With more run support, Yamamoto may have relied on his four-seam fastball more than his cutter, as he struggled to command his cutter in the strike zone.

Blake Treinen couldn’t get out of the seventh without allowing a two-run single.

Eduardo Henriquez and Jack Dreyer pitched well in relief.

When the Dodgers had only three innings with runners in scoring position, they had to have a big hit.  Well, they didn’t get it. In the first inning, with bases loaded, Will Smith had a sacrifice fly. In the eighth inning, Max Muncy and Andy Pages couldn’t cash in with bases loaded.

Earlier Tuesday, the Dodgers sent a prospect to the Arizona Diamondbacks to acquire Alek Thomas, who was put on waivers on Friday. Thomas is a good defensive outfielder with a lifetime batting average of .230. This season, he has a .188 batting average. The Dodgers will send Thomas to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

On Wednesday, with Ohtani on the mound, the Dodgers will look to snap their losing streak. Ohtani won’t hit while pitching. Thursday, he gets a day off.
