After a night when the Dodgers scored eight runs, they couldn’t score enough to support Shohei Ohtani’s gem. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2–1 loss to the last-place Houston Astros was a disappointment.
Coming off Pitcher of the Month honors, Ohtani was brilliant. For the first time this year, he went seven innings and allowed two solo home runs. His command was almost perfect, despite hitting a batter when the breaking ball slipped out of his hand. Using his full arsenal, he struck out eight.
Alex Vesia had a perfect eighth inning.
Constantly, the Dodgers had runners on base but couldn’t capitalize on scoring opportunities. Peter Lambert, who had awful numbers against the Dodgers in his career, dominated the team with his changeup and fastball. Andy Pages had three hits. In the eighth inning, pinch-hitting for Dalton Rushing, Alex Call doubled and scored on Kyle Tucker’s single.
On Tuesday, Kiké Hernández started a rehabilitation assignment in Oklahoma City after having offseason left elbow surgery. He had a double in three at-bats.
On Thursday, Mookie Betts will have live batting practice. If it goes well, he will begin a rehabilitation assignment. He injured his left oblique on April 4th.
Tommy Edman still feels soreness in his surgically repaired ankle. His recovery process has been slowed down.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers will look to win the series with Tyler Glasnow on the mound.
