Alex Freeland had his first three-hit game. He and Kyle Tucker homered to snap a six-game home run drought.
On a Monday night in Houston, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Houston Astros, 8–3.
The Dodgers used three singles by Will Smith, Teoscar Hernández, and Tucker for a run in the first. Although the Astros scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, the Dodgers never seemed to be in trouble.
The Dodgers attacked the Astros’ weak pitching early and never quit. Freddie Freeman, Smith, and Tucker had a multiple-hit game. Everyone in the lineup contributed to the final score though Shohei Ohtani didn’t get a hit.
Finally, the Dodgers gave Yoshinobu Yamamoto offensive support. Although he struggled with his command in the first inning, he righted himself and pitched six innings, where he struck out eight and walked one. In the fifth inning, he gave up two solo home runs.
Kyle Hurt, Blake Treinen, and Jack Dreyer were sharp in relief and combined for seven strikeouts.
On Tuesday, with the Pitcher of the Month in April on the mound, the Dodgers look to continue their winning streak against the Astros.
