The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on scoring opportunities when they left eight runners on base.

In front of a sellout crowd at Coors Field on a beautiful Saturday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies, 4–3.

After two pitches of the game, the Dodgers led 2–0 thanks to an error and a two-run homer by Kyle Tucker. In the second inning, Dalton Rushing added a solo shot. Then, the Dodgers’ offense went cold. Even when Freddie Freeman tripled with fewer than two outs, the Dodgers couldn’t bring him home.

Emmet Sheehan pitched well, especially at Coors Field. Despite allowing a run in the first inning and another one in the second, he settled down to pitch five innings with four strikeouts and two walks. He relied on his flawless defense to retire hitters.

Will Klein struggled in the sixth innings, allowing two runs, and was charged with the loss.

Alex Vesia and Eduardo Henriquez pitched well in relief to keep their team in striking distance, but their offense couldn’t do it.

On Sunday, the Dodgers will look to even the series. Roki Sasaki will look to succeed in the high altitude of Denver.
