The Dodgers did not have an offensive explosion, but they didn’t need one.
On Tuesday night at Rogers Centre, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays,4–1.
Immediately before the game, Miguel Rojas was a late scratch due to a family emergency. Hyeseong Kim and Alex Freeland combined for four hits and scored all four runs. The Dodgers didn’t have a home run, but they manufactured runs.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto was sharp for six-plus innings. Before the sixth, he didn’t walk a batter. He struck out six, walked one, and allowed five hits. Unlike his first two starts, he had his customary pinpoint command. He had the slider, his fourth-best pitch, working. Before the fifth, Yamamoto baffled the Blue Jays.
Alex Vesia relieved Yamamoto in the seventh inning with two runners on base. He walked the first hitter. Then, he quickly retired the next three hitters.
After a rough spring training, Blake Treinen, on ten pitches, dominated the opposition in the eighth inning.
Edwin Díaz saved the game even though he walked a batter in the ninth inning.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers look to have a perfect six-game road trip.
