On a picturesque Saturday night at Camelback Ranch, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies 6-to-4.
From his first start in the Cactus League, Landon Knack improved his command. In his first outing, he couldn’t get out of the first inning, but on Saturday, he pitched three innings and allowed two runs. He struggled to control the running game. The likelihood of Knack making the Opening Day roster, but if the Dodgers suffer a pitching injury, Knack is the first pitcher to be promoted.
Ben Casparius has had a great spring training. Last year, he was a major part of the Dodger bullpen before the Dodgers tried to make him a starter. In July, he had a 10.24 ERA, but he rebounded in August. However, he didn’t appear in many postseason games because he lost Dave Roberts’ trust.
Casparius figures to play a key role in the middle innings, particularly with Brusdar Graterol and Brock Stewart on the IL.
Andy Pages continued having a strong spring training with a run-producing double. He recovered from losing a fly ball in the dusty sky to make an over-the-shoulder catch.
Trying to be competitive, the Rockies are stealing more bases than in the past. The Dodgers need to work on controlling the running game before the regular season.
