On a hot Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs 6-to-2. The other Dodger team lost to the Texas Rangers 7-to-6 at Surprise, Arizona.

Justin Wrobleski started for the Dodgers and looked sharp. Although many Dodger fans see him as a reliever because he has been more effective in that role, the Dodger organization views him as a starter. At 25, Wrobleski has four major-league quality pitches with great control and velocity. With Blake Snell missing Opening Day, Wrobleski has an excellent opportunity to earn a spot in the starting rotation. On Saturday afternoon, he hurled two scoreless innings.

Edwin Díaz, coming from the New York Mets to the Dodgers, hopes to bolster the Dodgers’ bullpen. He has made two appearances in the Cactus League before going to join Team Puerto Rico to play in the World Baseball Classic. On Saturday, despite pitching a scoreless inning, he struggled with his control, issuing two walks.

Coming off a poor and disappointing 2025 season, Tanner Scott made his spring training debut.  Despite allowing a single, he had a good performance. Many hitters swing and miss at his pitches.

Since the Dodgers opened the 2025 season in Japan, Scott hadn’t had enough time to get ready for the season. His mechanics never felt good, which led to his surprising struggles. He blew ten saves, which led the majors. He allowed seven home runs in 2025, more than the previous three years combined. At times, he threw too many good strikes. His mechanical problems caused some health issues. Scott missed the NLCS and World Series. The Dodgers need Scott to bounce back from a difficult 2025 season to have a strong bullpen.
