The Los Angeles Dodgers have pitching news. Let’s get into it.

On Friday, Yoshinobu Yamamoto faced hitters and looked good. He even broke Hyeseong Kim’s bat. People are worried about Yamamoto’s previous year’s workload, but so far, he has shown no ill effects from his postseason heroics. In two weeks, Yamamoto will be leaving for Team Japan to compete in the World Baseball Classic.

Tyler Glasnow, Emmet Sheehan, Edwin Díaz, Roki Sasaki, and Shohei Ohtani threw bullpen sessions. They looked good. Ohtani has increased his velocity from the 2025 season.

Brusdar Graterol had right shoulder surgery in November 2024 to repair the labrum. Before 2024, Graterol was a durable right-handed reliever for the Dodgers. He missed the entire 2025 season. Now, he is throwing from the mound but doesn’t have his usual incredible velocity. The Dodgers will slow-play Graterol’s ramp-up for the 2026 season.

Brock Stewart had right shoulder surgery last October to remove a bursa sac. He won’t be ready for Opening Day but should be able to pitch the “majority of the season.” If Graterol cannot return to the bullpen until after the All-Star break, Stewart could play an integral part in the Dodger bullpen.

Tanner Scott impressed Dave Roberts. At no time during the 2025 season was Scott up to his lofty standards set while he was with the San Diego Padres. During the 2025 NLCS, Scott underwent a lower body surgery to treat an abscess and missed the NLCS and World Series. The Dodgers need Scott to stabilize the late innings to have an outstanding bullpen.
