The Los Angeles Dodgers looked tired. Anthony Banda and Blake Treinen couldn’t stop a seventh-inning rally. The offense couldn’t manufacture runs.
The World Series is knotted at two games apiece. The Dodgers lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 6-to-2. Shohei Ohtani pitched well for six innings, except for allowing a two-run homer by Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. Banda and Treinen couldn’t stop the seventh-inning rally. Jack Dreyer was great in relief.
The story is the Dodgers’ anemic offense. Continually, the Dodgers had scoring opportunities. They couldn’t get the necessary big hit.
Now, the Dodgers have three games to win two. After the game, Dave Roberts said that he will change the lineup tomorrow. Andy Pages needs to be benched because the quality of his at-bats has been lacking throughout the postseason. Will Smith is exhausted, and Ben Rortvedt has proven he can catch well and move runners into scoring opportunities. Alex Call needs to be in the lineup. Miguel Rojas understands the importance of moving runners into the scoring position in any way he can.
Blake Snell must rebound from a difficult start.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers must win to have a legitimate chance of going back-to-back World Series champs. If the Dodgers can accomplish this, they will be the first team to do this since 1999 and 2000 when the New York Yankees did it.
