On Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series. The Dodgers are heavily favored to win the series. For the first time since the New York Yankees won back-to-back World Series in 1999 and 2000, the Dodgers have the opportunity to win back-to-back World Series.
The Blue Jays are scary. They had the best record in the American League during the 2025 regular season.
The Blue Jays had the best batting average in baseball. They like breaking balls. However, two of their offensive stars-George Springer and Bo Bichette-have bad knees.
In August, the Dodgers took two of three games from the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays couldn’t hit Blake Snell.
In the 2025 regular season, the Blue Jays had 50 comeback wins, the most in the major leagues.
Most people think the Blue Jays have a good starting rotation. Their rotation has older starters and Shane Bieber, a year from having Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers should be able to hit the Blue Jays’ rotation.
Both the Dodgers and the Blue Jays have bullpen problems. However, the Dodgers’ bullpen has had much more rest than the Blue Jays’ bullpen pitched in seven games during the ALCS. Whereas the Dodgers’ starters have gone at least 5.2 innings a game, the Blue Jays’ starters are lucky to go into four innings.
The Dodgers have experience in the World Series. The Blue Jays don’t have. The last time the Blue Jays were in the World Series was 1993. The Blue Jays’ bench coach, former Dodger manager Don Mattingly, is appearing in his first World Series during his 36-year major league career.
As a Dodger fan, I would love to see a Dodgers’ sweep, but the Blue Jays’ offense scares me. I think the Dodgers will win the series in five games. The Dodgers are just the better team.
