On a hot Saturday afternoon at Kaufman Stadium, the Kansas City Royals smashed the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-to-5. While Shohei Ohtani pitched well for two innings, the bullpen wasn’t good on Saturday. Freddie Freeman had three hits, including a solo home run, and Hyeseong Kim had two hits. The Dodgers scored four runs in the ninth. This loss snapped a five-game winning streak.

Shohei Ohtani successfully pitched two innings. He had great movement on his pitches and good command. He threw 27 pitches, 20 of which were strikes.

Ben Casparius relieved Ohtani in the third, after a night when he was under the weather. He allowed a two-run double with two outs in the third. Max Muncy made a fabulous defensive play to prevent a throwing error by Dalton Rushing. He pitched well in the fourth. Andy Pages overran the ball on a single that turned into a runner on second who scored on a single. Casparius allowed a three-run homer in the fifth.

With two outs in the seventh, Freddie Freeman snapped his home run drought with a solo shot.

Luis Garcia relieved Casparius in the seventh and allowed a double that scored two runs. Anthony Banda relieved Garcia with one out in the seventh. Miguel Rojas pitched the eighth and pitched well.

With two outs in the ninth, Max Muncy singled in Hyeseong Kim, and Kiké Hernández singled in two more runs. Andy Pages singled in another run.
