Everything went the Dodgers’ way.

When Blake Snell needed to have one more out to finish the seventh, Dave Roberts came out with every intention to take out his prized left-hander, but Snell was adamant that he was staying in the game. Roberts listened to Snell, who got his twelfth strikeout. Thanks to Snell’s brilliance, the Los Angeles Dodgers salvaged a game from the Philadelphia Phillies 5-to-0. Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani had solo home runs. Alex Vesia was perfect in the eighth. Despite allowing two baserunners, Tanner Scott performed well in the ninth. The Dodgers maintained a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League Western Division.

Since the first of August, the Dodgers’ strength has been the starting rotation. Snell continued the pitching dominance. In his seven innings, he walked only 2 hitters and allowed two hits.

Unlike most of this season, the Dodgers could manufacture runs. Kiké Hernández and Ben Rortverdt had two-out hits.

If the Dodgers can perform like this, they will be okay in the playoffs.
