On a hot Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, Andy Pages had his first major league multiple home run game. The bullpen pitched. The Dodgers had a 5-run sixth. The Padres continually battled. For the first time this year, Dave Roberts was ejected from the game. The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 8-to-6.
Tyler Glasnow threw a two-inning simulated game and looked good. The Dodgers don’t know what is next for him. However, he will be back soon. Glasnow thinks he will soon be going on a rehabilitation assignment.
Jack Dreyer opened the game and allowed a single with one out. On a ground ball, the runner advanced to second. He gave up a run-producing single. He retired the last hitter of the inning.
The Dodgers didn’t do anything offensively in the first.
Dreyer continued pitching in the second inning and was perfect.
Will Smith doubled to start the second and went to third on Teoscar Hernández’s fly ball. Max Muncy’s fly ball scored Smith. Andy Pages socked a solo home run. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Lou Trivino relieved Dreyer in the third and gave up a lead-off double. Fernando Tatis, Jr, was plunked by a pitch. He allowed a run-scoring single that moved Tatis to third. He walked Manny Machado to load the bases. He allowed a sacrifice fly. Muncy-Tommy Edman-Freddie Freeman turned an inning-ending double play.
Shohei Ohtani was plunked by the pitch with an out in the third. Dave Roberts was ejected from the game. Freeman singled Ohtani to second. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on a scoring opportunity.
Trivino continued pitching in the fourth. He issued a walk to begin the inning. Edman-Mookie Betts-Freeman turned a double play. He struck out the last hitter of the inning.
Pages hit another solo home run with two outs in the fourth. The Dodgers didn’t score any more.
Matt Sauer relieved Trivino in the fifth with a perfect inning.
The Dodgers went down in order in the fifth.
Sauer continued pitching in the sixth but gave up a single to Machado. He issued a walk. Muncy turned a double play. Sauer struck out the last hitter of the inning.
Freeman singled to open the sixth and moved to second on a wild pitch. Smith blasted a two-run homer after fouling off ten pitches. Teoscar Hernández singled and went to second on Muncy’s single. Pages singled in Hernández and moved Muncy to second. A wild pitch moved the runners into scoring position. Edman doubled in Muncy and Pages. Mookie Betts was intentionally walked. The Dodgers didn’t score any more runs.
Sauer continued pitching in the seventh and plunked a batter to open the inning. He gave up a two-run homer. He issued a walk. He gave up an infield single.
Michael Kopech relieved Sauer with an out in the seventh. He issued a walk to load the bases. He balked in a run. he escaped from the jam.
Smith singled to open the seventh and was erased on Teoscar Hernández’s double play.
Anthony Banda relieved Kopech in the eighth and allowed a bloop single to start the inning. The runner stole second and went to third. Another runner stole second. Tatis was intentionally walked. Banda escaped from the jam scorelessly.
Pages singled to begin the eighth and advanced to second on Kiké Hernández’s fly ball. Edman walked. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
